When I’m thinking of heroes basing their efforts on gratitude, the first person who comes to mind is Maggie Doyne.Maggie Doyne's photo should be here

Maggie was just 20 when her visit in Nepal changed her life, as well as the lives of many others. She didn’t need a fancy degree or lots of experience to find her quest. All it took was a gap year, a child truly touching her heart, and the realization that she has so much to be grateful for.

Maggie used her motivation, savings and commitment to found BlinkNow, an organization committed to helping Nepalese children.

“Every day we strive to create a sustainable organization working to educate all of Kopila’s children until they are ready to enter the world as happy, skilled, confident, self-sufficient, and English-speaking adults.”

Fast forward a few years and in 2015 Maggie is CNN’s ‘Hero of the Year’, having created a school, a children’s home, a women’s center, a girls’ safe house, and a health clinic with a focus in sustainability!
